Education

He is a graduate from the Department of Geology and Geoenvironment of the (National and Kapodistrian) University of Athens, Greece (1997) and he is a M.Sc. Graduate from the (National and Kapodistrian) University of Athens with specialization in Engineering Geology.

Description

Mr. Papazachariou has experience in projects funded by International Financial Institutions (IFIs), such as the EU, EBRD and others. He has participated in international projects implemented in the Balkan region (Greece, Serbia, Kosovo, and North Macedonia), as well as in Moldova and Saudi Arabia, collaborating with both local and international partners. Detailed information on his professional experience is as follows:

  1. Extensive experience in conducting Geological, Hydrogeological, and Geotechnical studies and investigations, both in Greece and abroad. From 2007 to 2023, he served as Lead Geologist at a major Greek engineering consultancy, participating in a wide range of geological and geotechnical design projects. These included specialized geotechnical works such as:
    1. Geological and geotechnical investigations for major road corridors under the supervision of the General Secretariat of Public Works, Ministry of Infrastructure
    2. Preparation of detailed designs and tender documentation for the construction of new railway lines (for O.S.E.)
    3. Landslide remediation studies (for Northern Road Axis of Crete – B.O.A.K.)
  2. Significant experience in supervising road construction projects, including on-site supervision as part of the Construction Management Joint Venture for the Western Region of the Egnatia Odos Motorway (2001–2003).
  3. Considerable experience in reviewing geological and geotechnical designs, ensuring quality, compliance with standards, and technical adequacy.
  4. Participation in and collaboration on large-scale infrastructure projects, involving multidisciplinary teams and coordination with international stakeholders.

Preparation of quantity take-offs, as well as the development of financial and technical proposals for infrastructure projects.
