Education
Graduate of National Technical University of Athens, Greece (1979) and Ph.D. Graduate from the University of Manchester, Institute of Science and Technology (UMIST – 1984) with specialization in Geotechnical Engineering.
Description
Dr. Vakalis is the Project Manager of the Independent Engineer in the Concession Project of Central Greece Motorway. In his engineering career he has held leading roles and positions successfully implementing the International Principles in the Project Management along with Quality Practices, notably in the following projects:
- Project Manager of Central Greece Motorway (E65) for T1 and T2 Periods from 2016 onwards (ongoing project)
- Construction Manager (2009 to 2015) and Project Manager (2016-2022) of the Independent Engineer Joint Venture of Ionia Odos and PATHE Motorway.
- Deputy Project Manager and Project Manager at the Construction Manager Joint Venture of the Egnatia Odos Motorway Western Region (2004 to 2006).
- Quality Control and Quality Assurance Manager at the Construction Manager Joint Venture of the Egnatia Odos Motorway Western Region (1999 – 2003). Similar role in the Athens Metro (2003 to 2007) and the Thessaloniki Metro (2008 to 2009) projects.
Currently he has undertaken a wide contract supervision role on behalf of OMEK Consulting Engineers S.A. at the Amfilochia Hydro Pumped Storage Project related to the Independent Engineer of Cost Certification (IECC) Joint Venture.
